The Education Councilor of the Basque Government, Begoña Pedrosa, announced this Sunday that her Department will invest around 60 million euros in the «Eskola Txikiak».
The councilor made this announcement during the celebration of the «Gipuzkoako Eskola Txikien Jaia» (festival of the network of small schools in Gipuzkoa), organized by the Public School of Ezkio-Itsaso.
In her speech, Pedrosa reiterated her commitment to these centers and explained that «adding the planned works for this year and the main actions for subsequent years», the Basque Government will invest around 60 million euros in infrastructure for the «Eskola Txikiak».
Additionally, she acknowledged «the commitment of the school community» and claimed «the greatness» of the «Eskola Txikiak», which form «a network that advances with its own vision».
«You have clear and consistent objectives: the student is the owner of their own learning process, with a pioneering and demanding training model, in addition to great leadership,» she stated.
Pedrosa emphasized that the «Eskola Txikiak» make up a «team of work» and a project that is «a model for the rest of the public school network». «The attachment to the environment is the hallmark of the Eskola Txikiak, because the school is the soul and future of the town,» she said.
She also referred to «pedagogical intervention, a source of enrichment» for the «Eskola Txikiak», pointing out that «students of different ages, with different levels of development, curiosity, and abilities» learn together. In her opinion, this method «has led to the promotion and development of revolutionary methodologies with the vision and intervention that all of this requires.»
