The filmmaker says that the genocide «has already ended» and calls for the «Israeli project» to be a multicultural State: «That’s how it should be»
Filmmaker and reporter Hernán Zin has presented exclusive images of his new documentary, ‘Born in Gaza 2’, where he once again narrates the drama of ten Palestinians living amidst rubble, fear, death, and war.
«Israel has won and achieved its goal. The genocide has ended, Gaza is a wasteland and there is no one left to rebuild it. Israel has killed all the people capable of rebuilding the city. They have done it methodically, using Artificial Intelligence. Gaza is a weapons laboratory of the future, they are the future of humanity and that is why we have to see it as if we are all Gaza,» he said in an interview with Europa Press, prior to the preview of excerpts from the documentary at the Ateneo de Madrid, where a crowdfunding campaign has been launched to finish the project. The release date is still unknown, but it is expected to premiere in the fall.
The project is a continuation of the documentary with the same title that was released in 2014. In this first production, Hernán Zin followed ten children who shared their daily lives. One of the good news of the second project, as revealed by the filmmaker, is that they have found those children who are once again narrating their daily lives.
Zin asserts that Israel’s target is the middle and upper class of Gaza, those individuals who are engineers, doctors, lawyers, or professors. «It is the same thing Hitler did,» he asserts. He also points out that babies born in Gaza today have «shrunken brains, polio, or malnutrition.» «How can this be rebuilt? The country is left without leadership. They kill in a methodical way and through algorithms,» he laments. «The Gazans have great courage because, unlike Israeli settlers who flee, they stay,» he concludes.
Zin believes that the technological control Israel has implemented in Gaza will spread to «any country» and warns that societies will be «deprived of their rights.» «They will know everything about us. They will not let us cross borders. Everything that has been tested in Gaza will be used to spy on us and track us. And that will happen with Artificial Intelligence, which is the one that decides and implements. That is dehumanization and it is very frightening,» he stated.
Zin recounts that Israel uses quadcopter drones that speak to the Gazans. «These devices arrive and may say ‘get out of there, we are going to kill the rest.’ It is terrifying. They use voices of crying children or barking dogs and launch missiles. It’s science fiction turned reality. And that will reach all armed conflicts. We must continue to fight,» he asserts.
LEAVING EUROVISION: SOMETHING «MINUSCULE»
The filmmaker highlights that only one percent of what happens reaches the West and laments that Europe «requests minuscule things» like Israel «leaving Eurovision» because «International Law calls for military intervention, not an arms embargo or the severing of relations.» «The West has portrayed itself so poorly in front of the world, we have lost so much credibility. We are puppets. Great Britain and then the United States, that is my only hope, because they are the supporters of Israel. I hope the Israeli project will be redirected to a multicultural State as it should be,» he affirms.
«Let’s hope there is a shift in power, perhaps towards Asia. Israel continues to escalate because Europe does nothing,» he emphasizes. Zin laments that at a propaganda level, the population of Gaza is deemed «guilty» and reveals that this time he has not been able to access Gaza because «Israel prevents foreign journalists from approaching.» However, ‘Born in Gaza 2’ was able to be carried out with Palestinian reporters, like Yousef Hammash.
«Israel kills international and national reporters. They do not want witnesses and are succeeding in showing only one percent,» he denounces. One of the positive things that Hernán Zin praises is the social response, especially among young people, who have raised their voices and demonstrate that «there is no longer fear of anti-Semitism.» «That is used as a weapon and it is a lie. Many Jews are also upset with their Zionist state. We are all human beings and we are the same species, and they are killing the most vulnerable,» he points out.
In this regard, he argues that it is a genocide «being carried out live» with Artificial Intelligence. «Now with that tool, they recognize the voice, face, and data of individuals and obtain 200 targets to kill per day. Before, it took a month to have 50 targets. What AI is doing, without human control, is terrifying and chilling,» he notes.
INCREASE IN DEFENSE SPENDING
Asked about Spain’s decision not to increase defense spending to 5 percent, Hernán Zin defends the Government’s decision because that economic allocation «means less money to help vulnerable people, hospitals, etc.»
«Wanting to allocate five percent of GDP to defense is a measure imposed by Trump, who wants Europe to be left without social security. There are other elements of struggle, they are no longer tanks or missiles. It is a serious mistake because those who make the weapons win,» he admits.
