The report prepared by the Subcommittee, accessed by Europa Press, indicates this. The document includes a series of conclusions and recommendations to improve mental health in Spain.
This Thursday, the Health Committee of the Congress of Deputies will debate and vote on the report’s findings, which, if approved, will be discussed in the Plenary. However, Vox has already announced that they will vote against the document.
The Subcommittee was created within the Health Committee by agreement of the Congress of Deputies Plenary adopted on April 1, 2024. The Subcommittee has formally met ten times for the organization of work and the preparation and approval of the report. At its meeting on June 20, 2024, it was agreed that the testimonies would be given in the Committee, with a total of forty experts in the subject matter of the Subcommittee appearing.
The report also recommends correcting professional ratios compared to other countries, with special attention to the incorporation of accredited clinical psychology positions, progressively increasing them until they meet all the needs related to mental health.
Additionally, recommendations related to actions on the social determinants of health and more mental health in all policies are also included. Thus, the text indicates that progress will be made «as a priority» in other policies that are decisive for mental health, such as housing and work.
Likewise, recommendations related to a person-centered mental health model, with a focus on rights and suicide prevention, which advocates for the humanization of care processes and services, are also mentioned.
