FEFCI pointed this out on Thursday on the occasion of the International Day of Families, taking the opportunity to launch the campaign ‘The Voice of Families’, which highlights the coordination that occurs between associations when a family is forced to move from one autonomous community to another in search of appropriate treatment or care for their children.
According to details provided, one of the most valued services by families who received psychosocial care from FEFCI entities in 2024 are the 61 accommodations they offer, usually located in cities with hospitals specializing in the treatment of the disease.
Through these accommodations, they manage to provide significant economic relief for the family unit. In 2024 alone, 47,532 overnight stays were provided to a total of 424 families in need.
The campaign ‘The Voice of Families’ tells the story of several families who were forced to move from their place of residence to ensure the treatment of their children and how the support of the associations linked to the Spanish Federation of Families of Childhood Cancer helped them.
The president of FEFCI, Juan Antonio Roca, highlighted that these data and attention «demonstrate the structured and sustained work carried out by our associations so that no family faces the diagnosis alone. This joint effort allows for effective responses to the multiple needs that arise in this process.»
