Oxfam Intermón Trailwalker celebrates its 14th edition this weekend in Girona, on the 5th and 6th of April, with the participation of nearly 300 teams and over 2,000 participants, as announced by the NGO. Another race will take place on May 31st in San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid).
In the case of Girona, this charity event has raised over 370,000 euros that will be used to combat the effects of climate change and ensure access to clean water in vulnerable communities in Africa and Latin America.
The event will take place along the Vía Verde, with four different routes: 100 kilometers with a maximum time of 32 hours; 55 kilometers in 16 hours; 25 kilometers in 6 hours; and a 10-kilometer route.
In Spain, the Trailwalker has been held since 2011. Over the years, more than 30,000 people have participated in the initiative, raising over 8 million euros to provide access to clean water to over a million people.
These funds are crucial to address humanitarian emergencies exacerbated by climate change, such as droughts and floods, as highlighted by the NGO. In the past year, they have supported 15.3 million people in 81 countries through the collaboration of 2,341 partner organizations.
