The minister of Health, Mónica García, has confirmed that the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS) has reached an agreement to develop the Mental Health Plan 2025-2027, which involves an investment of 39 million and focuses on three major challenges: the use of psychotropic drugs, lack of professionals, and guaranteeing rights for people with mental health conditions.
During a press conference following the CISNS plenary meeting this Friday in Toledo, consensus was reached after failing to reach an agreement at the previous meeting in February.
García, accompanied by the Health Minister of Castilla-La Mancha, Jesús Fernández, stated that «there has not been a single vote against the mental health plan.»
Regarding the criticisms from the PP about the amount of the plan, mentioned earlier on Friday by the Health Minister of the Junta of Castilla y León, Alejandro Vázquez Ramos, García mentioned that the economic amount «was hardly a topic of debate,» but rather the focus was on the «lack of human resources.»
«The demand has been more for human resources, beyond the microphones, there has not been a single vote against the mental health plan,» affirmed the Health Minister.
Additionally, García announced that a common guide for the National Health System on voluntary interruption of pregnancy has been agreed upon, which «finally gets the green light and represents a significant step in ensuring equitable access to this healthcare provision nationwide.»
