Twitch is implementing a new storage limit for streamers’ uploads and highlight videos, starting on April 19. All uploads and highlights will now count towards a 100-hour storage cap for each streamer, regardless of whether the videos are published or not. It’s important to note that this limit does not apply to past broadcasts or clips.
The streaming service introduced highlights as a way to increase discovery and engagement for streamers. However, it seems that the feature has not been as effective as clips and the mobile discovery feed. In order to manage storage costs and focus on enhancing features like Clips and mobile feed, Twitch has decided to limit the amount of storage space that highlights and uploads can take up.
According to Twitch, less than 0.5 percent of active streamers have exceeded the 100-hour limit. Those who have gone over the limit will be notified directly. To help streamers decide which videos to keep, Twitch has introduced filters for Video Producer, allowing users to sort their content based on length, view count, and date created. Videos that surpass the 100-hour cap will be deleted on April 19, and going forward, uploads and highlights will be restricted.
