The Real Valladolid has published an open letter to their fans this Friday to apologize «for not having worn the shirt with dignity», until mathematically confirming their relegation to LaLiga Hypermotion, and has ignored in their text the Brazilian Ronaldo Nazario, former footballer and current owner of a Valladolid club that is up for sale.
«This is one of those nights when the blanquivioletas feel the wound where we have felt the excitement on hundreds of afternoons. That excitement did not arise on its own: it was built as a family. And in bad times, families tend to come together. Come together to rise, to start over, to push each other when we need it most,» began the letter distributed by Valladolid on their website and social networks.
«The strength with which we started the season, that massive push with which we believed anything was possible, that sparkle in the eyes when the ball started rolling back in August, hits us today from disappointment and the sadness of knowing that next year we will play in the Second Division,» continued the text.
«Your pain and ours are not exclusive, they complement and add up. There is no word that can console you or truly reflect the pain of all. But there is one that helps to awaken our club’s conscience: FORGIVENESS,» emphasized in uppercase. «We ask for forgiveness as the main responsible for the sporting results that have led the team to relegation,» they added.
«We apologize for not wearing the Real Valladolid shirt with dignity and for not competing with the attitude that all of you who have built our history over the years with your sacrifice, your hopes, your time, and your love deserve,» continued the message for those at the José Zorrilla Stadium.
They underlined that «competing was and is an obligation.» «And not doing so is the reason for the logical disappointment we feel today. We have not lived up to our badge. We must not forget this season. We will remember it to not repeat the mistakes that have brought us here, where we do not want to be,» affirmed the blanquivioleta letter.
«The families of our land only bow their heads to show respect. Respect for defeat. Respect for sadness. Respect for shared pain. Respect for accumulated frustration. Respect for hopes turned bitterly into tears,» added the press text.
«But with sincere forgiveness, self-criticism, and thoughtful reflection, and with the conviction that the blanquivioleta feeling does not understand surrender, we will raise our heads together to build a better future hand in hand. Because above frustration, the unbreakable pride of being from Real Valladolid will always remain. We will return. Aúpa Pucela forever,» concluded the letter without a single mention of Ronaldo.
