Mamás en Acción launches ‘El amor cura’, a campaign about the importance of hospitalized children being accompanied – MAMÁS EN ACCIÓN
The NGO Mamás en Acción will launch the ‘El amor cura’ campaign on Tuesday, May 13, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of not having children hospitalized alone, without the accompaniment of an adult, as reported by the organization.
«As important as curing is caring: we cannot allow a single child to be alone, without the accompaniment of an adult 24 hours a day in any hospital in Spain. Love positively contributes to the recovery of children, and therefore should be considered an indivisible part of treatment. We have scientific evidence that children accompanied with affection by Mamás en Acción recover faster,» said the president and founder of Mamás en Acción, Majo Gimeno.
According to the NGO, this was demonstrated in a study on the impact of the accompaniment provided by Mamás en Acción to children. The study was conducted by the Pediatric team at the Hospital de la Fe in Valencia, led by the Pediatric Service of the center, Emilio Monteagudo, and presented at the National Congress on Patient Humanization in 2018.
In this regard, it has been noted that the report concluded that children accompanied by Mamás en Acción recover faster; it prevents the emergence of aggressive patterns associated with previous abusive behaviors, and it facilitates the reconciliation of mothers and fathers to avoid losing custody of their children.
The NGO is launching its campaign on the network of mupis in Madrid near the Hospital del Niño Jesús, a pediatric reference center where the first ‘Hospitals en Acción: Ni un niño solo’ event was held, bringing together pediatricians and healthcare personnel from various hospitals. During this meeting, the Expert Committee of Mamás en Acción was established and the Pediatric Humanization Decalogue was approved.
