The mayor of Barcelona has restructured the municipal government, creating a 5th deputy mayor position led by councilor Raquel Gil, while the housing area now falls under the 4th deputy mayor, Jordi Valls.
In a statement on Tuesday, the City Council detailed that Gil will oversee the areas of Social Affairs, Economic Promotion, Employment, Feminism, and Democratic Memory, in changes that coincide with the halfway point of the term.
Regarding the Commissioners, the 5th deputy mayor’s office welcomes a new Commissioner for Economic Promotion, Nadia Quevedo, with appointments pending for a Commissioner for Language Policy and one for Rehabilitation.
