El Elche pierde en Huesca y el Granada gana con Pacheta

El Elche suffered a 2-1 defeat on Saturday in their visit to El Alcoraz on matchday 40 of LaLiga Hypermotion, relinquishing the top spot and potentially dropping out of direct promotion. Meanwhile, Granada entered the promotion race with Pacheta’s debut.

The Elche team seemed poised for promotion to LaLiga at halftime thanks to a fantastic goal by Álvaro Núñez. However, everything changed with Germán Valera’s controversial red card in the hour mark. Huesca capitalized on this and equalized through Diego González, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory in stoppage time with Joaquín Muñoz’s goal.

Despite the efforts of Matías Dituro, Elche couldn’t secure at least a point. With only one win in their last five matches, they lost the top position to Levante and now sit at 71 points, waiting to see Mirandés’ result on Monday in Córdoba to determine if they still have a chance to secure direct promotion to LaLiga EA Sports.

On the other hand, Huesca kept their hopes alive of breaking into the top 6 in the remaining two matchdays. Granada, on the other hand, entered the promotion zone pending the weekend’s results, with Pacheta’s successful debut on the sidelines.

Pacheta, Fran Escribá’s replacement, had a successful start in Granada’s trip to Riazor, where the Andalusian team had a good start. Abde Rebbach and Giorgi Tsitaishvili gave Granada a comfortable 2-0 lead, and despite Deportivo’s comeback attempts, Manu Trigueros secured the victory for the visitors.

In other matches, Malaga, featuring academy players, came from behind to defeat Sporting Gijón 2-1, virtually securing their stay in La Rosaleda. Meanwhile, Eibar won 1-0 against Burgos with a penalty kick, and Cartagena, already relegated, defeated Tenerife 1-0.
