SABIÑÁNIGO (HUESCA), 21 (EUROPA PRESS)
Fernando Santos and Ester Ruiz have tasted the glory of winning the Marcha Cicloturista Ibercaja Quebrantahuesos by TotalEnergies, in an edition, the XXXIV, that has brought together more than 10,000 cyclists from around the world to face an unforgettable day marked by emotion, overcoming, and heat that has squeezed the participants to the fullest.
From early in the morning, the atmosphere in Sabiñánigo has been a true sports celebration. The town in Huesca has been the starting and finishing point of a ride that is much more than a sporting event: it is a collective experience, a must-attend event for cycling enthusiasts.
The major Pyrenean climbs of Somport, Marie Blanque, Portalet, and Hoz de Jaca have offered their most spectacular version, allowing participants to enjoy the physical challenge on a day marked by high temperatures, which added an extra level of demand to the route without detracting from its spectacular nature or participation.
Aitor Jiménez, Events Director at Octagon Esedos, highlighted the global dimension of the event: «Very pleased with the day, great sports atmosphere, experiential, and happy once again to attend this cycling spectacle, not only because of the brands that have attended but also because of the whole world involved in this event. Looking forward to next year.»
On his part, Fernando Escartín, President of the Edelweiss Cycling Club, emphasized the continuous evolution of the event without losing its essence: «So far, so good, there haven’t been major mishaps, everything is in order, typical falls but hopefully we finish the day well. The whole issue of supply has been reinforced, I am very happy with this year’s Quebrantahuesos.»
In terms of sports, the Quebrantahuesos Gran Fondo has produced outstanding times in both the men’s and women’s categories. The fastest in men was Fernando Santos, with a time of 05:26:36, while in women, the victory went to Ester Ruiz, who stopped the clock at 06:14:01, repeating her triumph from last year.
In Treparriscos, Berta Bassols and Jon Arakama were the fastest to complete the course, demonstrating a high level on a demanding but highly praised route by the participants.
This 2025, the organization wanted to pay tribute to Luis León Sánchez for his career and his connection to professional cycling. In addition, the peloton featured big names in sports like Miguel Indurain, David Ferrer, Jesús Navas, Lucas Eguibar, and Haimar Zubeldia, among others.
The official live stream once again showcased the unique nature of Quebrantahuesos, with over seven hours of live excitement. From the organization, we deeply thank all participants, volunteers, institutions, security forces, and sponsors for their commitment.
