Cultura ofrece 426.000 euros para proyectos de arqueología en el exterior

The Ministry of Culture has opened the call for ‘Grants and subsidies to finance archaeological excavations abroad’ for the year 2025. These grants are endowed with 426,000 euros and aim to promote Spanish archaeological research projects and interventions.

Through this competitive call for proposals, via the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain (IPCE), the Ministry of Culture aims to promote excellence in archaeology on an international level.

Autonomous communities and their respective public bodies and entities, public universities, as well as non-profit entities not belonging to the public sector, are eligible to apply for these grants.

The projects submitted must have a scientific director with experience in leading teams and fieldwork in interventions of the same nature. The grants will finance activities carried out between March 1, 2025, and September 1, 2026, and can award a maximum amount of 40,000 euros per project.

Applicants must provide at least ten percent of the total project cost as their own funding. The deadline for submitting applications is open until May 22 at 14:00 on the Ministry of Culture’s electronic platform.
