Descenso del 4,7% en la creación de empresas en Extremadura

The creation of new companies in Extremadura has decreased by 4.7 percent in May on a year-on-year basis, with a total of 121 mercantile societies established, in a month where the dissolved companies were 21, a 25 percent decrease, according to data released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Thus, Extremadura becomes the only autonomous community where the creation of companies has decreased in May on a year-on-year basis.

For the establishment of the 121 companies created last May, just over 3.97 million euros have been subscribed, representing a 21.2 percent increase compared to the same month a year ago.

Out of the 21 companies that closed last May in Extremadura, 19 did so voluntarily, none through merger with other companies, and the remaining two due to other reasons.

The creation of companies has increased in all communities compared to the same month of the previous year, with Castilla-La Mancha (+62.5 percent), Andalucía (+50.57 percent), and Murcia (+50.25 percent) leading the way, except for Extremadura where it has fallen by 4.72 percent.

Regarding the dissolution of companies, Castilla-La Mancha (+308.33%), Navarra (+100%), and Baleares (+50.91 percent) have been the communities that have destroyed the most companies on a year-on-year basis, while Extremadura, La Rioja, and Asturias are the ones with the least decrease, with declines of 25 percent, 15.38 percent, and 8.57 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, the number of mercantile societies that have increased their capital has risen by 16.7 percent in Extremadura in May, reaching 35 companies. The capital subscribed in these increases has reached 3.36 million euros, a figure 70.1 percent lower than in May of the previous year.

NATIONAL DATA

At the national level, the number of new mercantile societies has grown by 36.9% in May compared to the same month in 2024, totaling 13,229 companies, the highest figure since the fifth month of 2007, according to INE data.

With the year-on-year increase in May, the creation of companies in the country has accumulated two consecutive months of growth, after rising by 0.3% in April.

For the creation of the 13,229 companies last May, almost 738.73 million euros have been subscribed, representing a 134.3% increase compared to the same month in 2024, while the average subscribed capital, which stood at 55,842 euros, has increased by 71.1 percent.

On the other hand, the dissolution of companies has increased by 25.3% year-on-year in the fifth month of the year, with 1,706 disappeared societies, meaning that 55 companies have closed each day in May.
