The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested two men aged 32 and 33 as alleged perpetrators of 14 burglaries in irrigation sheds and agricultural warehouses in the municipality of Castelldans (Lleida), as reported in a statement on Friday.
The arrests are the result of an investigation initiated in mid-September, after becoming aware of a series of burglaries in irrigation sheds and agricultural warehouses in the same municipality.
The actions taken by the agents of the Investigation Unit of Mollerussa allowed them to identify the two alleged perpetrators who are linked to 14 burglaries committed from September to November of last year in Les Vinyes de Castelldans.
ECONOMIC LOSSES IN THE HARVEST
In all the burglaries, batteries, ferrous materials, and electrical wiring, among other objects, were taken.
The Catalan police have emphasized that, in addition to the value of the objects, this type of theft represents significant economic losses for the victims due to the consequences it has on the crops, as they often remain without irrigation.
The arrested individuals, with criminal records, were released after declaring before the Mossos d’Esquadra, with the obligation to appear before the judge when required.
