The parliamentary spokesperson of the PP, Sebastià Sagreras, has urged the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to «take note of the President of the Government, Marga Prohens,» and «also update the insularity bonus for State officials in the Balearic Islands.»
Sagreras expressed this on Monday in a press conference, referring to the initiative of the Popular Group in the Balearic Chamber to be discussed on Tuesday to «continue advocating the need to attract and retain personnel for vacant positions in the National Police, Civil Guard, Judiciary officials, Prisons, or the Social Security, given that the lack of personnel has a negative impact on citizens.»
The spokesperson of the PP Parliamentary Group stated that «in this way, employees of the General State Administration serving in the Balearic Islands will be guaranteed equal remuneration among public sector workers regardless of the region and territorial administration where they provide their services.»
«We request real, fair, and effective compensation for the costs derived from insularity and an end to the discrimination caused by the lack of parity, both in comparison with State officials in the Canary Islands and with employees of the regional administration,» Sagreras stated.
LEFT-WING MOTIONS RELATED TO TOURISM
On the other hand, in the session on Tuesday, «there will be much talk about tourism to defend reality against the lies and manipulations of the PSIB,» explained the ‘popular’ spokesperson. Sagreras complained that «the PSIB has presented a motion full of lies trying to make people believe that the 115,000 new places are not their doing and that the Government’s decree increases places, when it doesn’t increase a single one,» and called for responsibility to «set limits on tourism for the first time in these islands.»
«This decree not only does not create a single place, but it prohibits new places in multi-family buildings, allows the conversion of outdated offers into limited-price housing for residents and workers, provides more resources to combat illegal offers with fines of up to 500,000 euros, and allows modernization plans for establishments in saturated areas and reconversion plans to be declared by the island councils,» Sagreras detailed.
Additionally, tourism will be discussed in a motion presented by MÉS per Mallorca, a political party with which, as Sagreras acknowledged, «the PP also disagrees» on tourism matters, since the ecosovereignists advocate for degrowth while the PP proposes «limits and containment.» However, the ‘popular’ spokesperson thanked MÉS for their motion’s «certain rigor,» acknowledging «the recognition of the more than 115,000 places created during the previous legislature» and demonstrating «coherence» with a point of self-criticism.
DEMOCRATIC MEMORY LAW
Furthermore, in response to questions from the media about the possibility of repealing the Democratic Memory Law as a result of negotiations between the Government and Vox for the approval of new regional budgets, the ‘popular’ spokesperson maintained that for the PP, it has «never been a priority to pass, repeal, or continue the Democratic Memory Law.»
«For us, the important law is the law on mass graves, the law to search for the bodies of victims of the Civil War and Francoism, and for their relatives to be able to bury them with dignity,» Sagreras continued, recalling that this is what the ‘popular’ party has stated «from day one» and, furthermore, was «one of the investiture agreements.»
Finally, regarding negotiations between the Government and Vox for new regional budgets, Sagreras reaffirmed that the PP wants to conduct them with «discretion,» and that «when there is something to comment on, if there is something to report, any supposed agreements that may be reached will be explained with total transparency.»
