El sistema VioGén reporta 5.803 casos activos en Galicia, la mayoría en riesgo no apreciado o bajo

There are 47 high-risk cases and 2,713 cases where the victims have minors in their care.

The VioGén system of the Ministry of the Interior for monitoring cases of gender-based violence in Spain records a total of 5,803 active cases in Galicia: 2,682 in the province of A Coruña, 1,812 in Pontevedra, 794 cases in Lugo, and 515 in the province of Ourense, according to data released by the Ministry, with information up to February 28.

Out of the total active cases in Galicia, 2,270 are recorded as having no perceived risk, while 2,664 are classified as low risk, 822 as medium risk, and 47 cases are considered high risk. There are no cases classified as extreme risk.

By provinces, in A Coruña there are 971 cases with no perceived risk, 1,275 with low risk, 414 with medium risk, and 22 with high risk; in Pontevedra, there are 711 cases with no perceived risk, 807 with low risk, 278 with medium risk, and 16 with high risk; in Lugo, there are 361 cases with no perceived risk, 351 with low risk, 78 with medium risk, and 4 with high risk; and in Ourense, there are 227 cases with no perceived risk, 231 with low risk, 52 with medium risk, and 5 with high risk.

Out of the total active cases, 40 of them involve victims under 18 years of age, with 19 cases having no perceived risk, 16 with low risk, and 5 with medium risk.

MINORS IN CARE

In 2,713 of the registered cases, the victims have minors in their care. The system reflects 638 cases with minors in vulnerable situations (273 with no perceived risk, 286 with low risk, 76 with medium risk, and 3 with high risk); and 93 cases with minors at risk (88 with medium risk and 5 with high risk).

Likewise, there are 681 cases of special relevance (636 with medium risk and 45 with high risk), which are those where, following the police risk assessment, according to the current Protocol (Instruction 4/2019), there is a significant combination of indicators that increase the likelihood of the aggressor inflicting severe or lethal violence on the victim.

NATIONAL DATA

Nationally, the Ministry of the Interior has identified 100,899 active cases of victims of gender-based violence in the VioGén System, of which 52,792 involve minors in their care. Out of the total active cases, 10 are at extreme risk, 895 at high risk, 13,071 at medium risk, 43,159 at low risk, and in 43,764 cases, the risk is not perceived.

By Autonomous Communities, the highest number of active cases of gender-based violence is in Andalucía, with 26,407; followed by the Valencian Community, with 16,802; the Community of Madrid, with 12,710; the Canary Islands, with 6,630; Galicia, with 5,803; Castilla-La Mancha, with 5,498; Murcia, with 5,493; Castilla y León, with 5,135; the Balearic Islands, with 4,155; Extremadura, with 2,698; Aragón, with 2,533; Asturias, with 2,125; Navarra, with 1,986; Cantabria, with 1,496; La Rioja, with 927; Ceuta, with 264; and Melilla, with 237.
