Es una situación que no debería ocurrir.

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Williams) has stated that the situation that led him to abandon the Australian Grand Prix in the first lap «should not have happened,» attributing the issue to «a gear change,» and pointing out that they are «unexplainable things.»

«It has been difficult conditions, but it is a situation that should not have happened. At least I have been able to see exactly what happened in the data. In the team, we have seen what happened with a gear change, which for some reason was not as it should have been and caused that moment. Strange,» he stated in comments to DAZN.

The Madrid-born driver, in his first race at the helm of Williams, lost control of his FW47 inexplicably in the last corner of the first lap behind the safety car, victim of a wet track; the car hit the wall and was visibly damaged in the front, preventing him from continuing.

«These are things that happen in motor sports, things that are sometimes a bit inexplicable, but from now on we can focus on China and make sure we start the season in a better way,» he concluded.
