More than 10,000 people have participated in the 12th edition of the Magic Line solidarity walk of Sant Joan de Déu, held in Barcelona and Lleida this Sunday, and in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Mallorca on April 6.
This initiative allocates 100% of the funds raised to social and healthcare programs for the groups attended to by Sant Joan de Déu, the organization stated in a press release. In this edition, they hope to raise 400,000 through the various events.
The organization expects a total of 14,000 people to participate in the Magic Line SJD, with events planned in Madrid and Valencia on May 10 and 11.
In Barcelona, the Magic Line SJD has «reclaimed Montjuïc mountain as a party space» with live music, theater, awareness spaces, and a solidarity sausage fest.
Participants, organized in teams of 2 to 20 people, have chosen a route in any of the cities and have organized donation drives prior to the walk.
