The reelected secretary general of the PSOE in the province of Toledo, Álvaro Gutiérrez, began his fourth term on Saturday as the head of the Toledo Socialist Party, showing his strength and ambition to win elections again and govern in the municipalities and the provincial Council.
«With strength to win» is the motto of the 14th Provincial Congress that the PSOE of Toledo held today in the regional capital, marking the key objective for the Toledo socialists after being elected secretary general of the PSOE of the province of Toledo with 97.91% support from the membership for his new Provincial Executive Committee.
Gutiérrez recalled that «only a handful of votes separated us from an absolute majority in most cases, and today we face this new stage with this new Executive Committee with the goal of reclaiming those governments» that «were stumbled upon by the coalition of losers from the PP and Vox, despite the extraordinary management of the socialist governments.»
«We want to win the elections not only because it is our party’s goal, but because we have the obligation to win for the people,» because «we are the only party today that guarantees the well-being of the citizens and the maintenance of rights and freedoms in our land,» and «it is not vanity, it is responsibility,» Gutiérrez stated.
Something that the secretary general and his team want to carry out «with absolute responsibility and the firm intention of making politics a useful tool for the people, especially for those who need us the most, for the most vulnerable, for the most disadvantaged.»
Álvaro Gutiérrez defended the politics of «honesty, closeness, and cleanliness that serves to solve problems and not create them, that serves to eliminate inequalities and offer opportunities on equal terms to everyone, regardless of what they have or where they live.»
«That committed politics that leaves no one behind and cares about the common interest, that politics with a soul of good feelings» and that is «the politics that has always characterized the PSOE,» he asserted.
This is what they want to convey to the citizens because «we cannot afford as a party or as a democratic society the political disaffection that the far-right plays into, benefiting only radical and populist positions.»
Gutiérrez stated that «progress and advancement, the economic and social development of the province of Toledo, is called PSOE,» and that at this moment «when emergency kits are being talked about, the only emergency kit against the setback represented by the union of the right and the far-right is the PSOE.»
In his address to the people filling the hall of the Beatriz hotel in Toledo, he made it clear that the «mandate we socialists have is to contribute to improving people’s living conditions, to improve public education, public health, social services, employment, housing, and transportation.»
The cohesion and unity that have characterized the 14th Provincial Congress are key elements for the new stage that the PSOE of the province of Toledo is facing with the new Provincial Executive Committee at the helm.
An executive in which Tita García Élez remains as president, Esther Padilla as vice-secretary, Francisco Rodríguez Sánchez as vice-secretary general of Municipal Policy, and Félix Ortega Fernández as secretary of Organization.
Additionally, Rosario Saco continues in charge of Equality; Javier Úbeda in Institutional Relations; Víctor Botica in Electoral Action; María Castaño in Training; Jesús Fernández Clemente in Sustainable Development; Julián Bolaños in Environment; María Luisa Rodríguez in Tourism; Jesús Mayoral in Urban Planning; David Palomares in Small Municipalities; David Corregidor in Economics; Alberto Hernández in Communication; María Elena Sonseca in Disability; Jorge Moreno in Territorial Cohesion; and Lorena Muñoz Díaz in Vocational Training.
On the other hand, Elena Martín assumes the role of Head of Group Dynamization, and Mónica González takes on Rural Women.
New additions include Silvia Díaz in charge of Health; Carolina Rodríguez in Member Care; César Sánchez in charge of Livestock; Fernando Martínez in Innovation and Science; Gema Calderón in Childhood and Family; Teodoro Jiménez in Heritage; Estela Palma in Gender Violence; and Araceli González in Education.
A team of men and women that Álvaro Gutiérrez highlighted for the «intelligence, work capacity, and commitment that the people by my side bring, combining experience with youth, strength with sensitivity.»
An Executive «renewed in large part and forming a very accurate representation of all regions and judicial districts,» and he assured that «they will give their all to achieve all the objectives set,» explicitly mentioning «improving electoral results and communication, enhancing regional meetings and the figure of regional leaders, advising and training members,» all from «proximity and closeness to colleagues.»
The reelected secretary general of the PSOE in the province of Toledo also expressed gratitude towards the «colleagues who have handed over today in this Provincial Executive Committee,» highlighting their «commendable work and loyal commitments» for which they deserve «all our recognition and affection.»
