Cárnicas 7 Hermanos, a family-owned company with a 60-year history in the production of meat products, based in Valmojado (Toledo), prides itself on honesty, effort, and «continuing to do things well,» as stated by its general director, Javier García Garrido, in an interview with Europa Press.
Founded in early 1965 by Santos García and Victoriana Gómez with a modest warehouse of hams and sausages in the town of Ledrada, ‘7 Hermanos’ was established in 1967, named after the number of children of the founding partners, Santos and Victoriana.
By the early 70s, the company grew in importance and volume, leading to the expansion of the slaughterhouse and factory in Villamanta (Madrid), with over 3,000 square meters of facilities.
In 1989, the factory in Valmojado (Toledo) was inaugurated, boasting over 8,000 square meters of built space and advanced technology that enhanced processes and product quality. The company experienced rapid growth, and in 2002, a factory expansion took place, reaching over 12,000 square meters with new and modern chambers capable of holding 600,000 hams.
Recently, it was awarded the Gran Selección Campo y Alma 2025 Prize for the Best Serrano Ham in Castilla-La Mancha. This prize adds to a history of accolades starting in 2009 and repeating in 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2020, with finalist positions in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
«It is an honor and a prestige that ‘7 Hermanos’ can be recognized as one of the best producers of ham in Castilla-La Mancha, considering this autonomous community as one of the largest producers of Serrano ham,» stated García Garrido.
«Honesty, hard work, always striving to do things as best as possible, seeking good raw materials, controlling processes, and aiming for a top-quality final product that pleases our customers and consumers,» are some of the values of this Toledo-based meat company.
Cárnicas 7 Hermanos has an annual turnover of around 20 million euros and produces about 2 million kilograms per year among the «wide» range of products it manufactures. The company not only produces the full range of ham (Serrano ham, Iberian ham, Serrano shoulder, and Iberian shoulder), but also offers a variety of sausages, both Iberian and Serrano, as well as a wide range of cooked hams, smoked products, pork, or turkey cold cuts.
«The star product is the grand reserve ham,» emphasized Javier García Garrido, noting that «currently, 80 to 90 percent of ham production is sold boneless.» He also mentioned other products like boneless ham for deli, for slicing, or rectangular formats for slicing.
‘7 Hermanos’ also produces one-kilogram ham pieces shaped like a ham, a product developed 12 to 14 years ago. «It was developed with foreign markets in mind,» has gained a good reputation in Europe, South America, and various markets.»
According to the company’s general director, this product, as it becomes known in foreign markets, is well-liked, and its demand is increasing.
Lastly, Javier García Garrido stated that Cárnicas 7 Hermanos has a «highly diversified» production. Outside of Spain, it has a significant market in Mexico and in Europe, particularly in Germany and throughout Central Europe.
Regarding future plans, he affirmed that the company does not have grand plans or projects but advocates for «continuing to do things well» and controlling the entire process to maintain a strong position for their products.
