The Zaragoza City Council, through the Department of Environment and Mobility, is organizing a special program from Monday, June 2nd to Friday, June 6th in celebration of Environment Week.
The activities will cater to students, youth, adults, and seniors, combining leisure with awareness and information about environmental protection. Collaboration with institutions and companies like ECODES, the Zaragoza Aquarium Foundation, and Urbaser has helped design a program to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the fight against plastic pollution in nature. The Zaragozanos Forest, a strategic project of the Zaragoza City Council, will also be featured in the program.
Tatiana Gaudes, Councilor for Environment and Mobility, stated that the program aims to raise awareness without being dogmatic, showing that small gestures can make a significant impact on planet conservation. The activities kick off on Monday with a session on Energy Communities in collaboration with ECODES and CIRCE.
On Tuesday, the focus will be on Sustainable Mobility, promoting the use of bicycles as a personal transportation mode. Free bicycle inspection workshops will be offered at three locations in the city, accompanied by a healthy snack.
Wednesday will feature a Circular Economy session at the Zaragoza Urban Waste Treatment Complex (CTRUZ) for seniors. The program includes visits to educate participants on proper waste management practices.
Thursday will be a fun-filled day with activities related to the Zaragozanos Forest and naturalization of spaces. The day will feature a special event for students titled «Creating Forest» at the Winter Garden. In the evening, a concert for young adults will take place at the Xior Space with performances by Modelo and Diego Meléndez.
To attend the concert, individuals must visit the Zaragozanos Forest website and sponsor a tree for the upcoming planting campaign. The program will conclude on Friday with the release of European pond turtles into the Gállego River, as part of a conservation project by the Zaragoza City Council and the Zaragoza Aquarium Foundation.
Stay tuned for these exciting environmental activities in Zaragoza!
