Games Done Quick’s upcoming week-long charity speedrunning event begins this weekend with Frost Fatales, one of GDQ’s two events dedicated to celebrating women and femmes. Scheduled to run from March 9 to 16, Frost Fatales aims to raise funds for the nonprofit National Women’s Law Center.
Frost Fatales serves as the winter edition of the events organized by GDQ’s Frame Fatales speedrunning community, with its summer counterpart being Flame Fatales. Last year’s Frost Fatales managed to raise an impressive $155,000 for the same nonprofit organization, which focuses on advocating for gender justice in areas that are crucial to the well-being of women and girls. Since the inception of the Frame Fatales event in 2019, these biannual speedruns have collectively raised over $1 million for charitable causes.
This year’s Frost Fatales will kick off with a challenging run of the popular game Cuphead at 1PM ET on Sunday, followed closely by Super Mario Odyssey just an hour later. Completing Cuphead in such a short time frame is no easy feat and certainly deserves recognition.
Throughout the week, viewers can look forward to other exciting speedruns, including the original Legend of Zelda on Sunday, the Wii version of Punch-Out!! on Monday, a competitive «girl squad» race in Final Fantasy X-2 on Wednesday, and a showdown against Ganon in Breath of the Wild on Saturday. The event will conclude with a unique one-handed speedrun of the indie platformer Celeste later that evening.
For a detailed schedule of all the games being featured, interested individuals can visit GDQ’s website. The week-long event will be exclusively streamed on the GDQ Twitch channel, starting with the highly anticipated Cuphead run at 1PM ET on Sunday.
