The Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF) has warned that health insurance companies have reduced the quality of care in officials’ mutuals, despite the agreement reached with the government, calling on the Administration and political groups to intervene to ensure quality and prevent officials from being insured as second-class citizens.
CSIF states that negotiations between insurers and health providers (medical associations and hospital groups) are in a «very delicate» situation, with these negotiations set to conclude on the 23rd. Despite receiving a «substantial increase» in premiums from the government, a 41.2 percent increase to make the contract more attractive, this increase is not being reflected in the fees of doctors and hospitals.
This situation has led to the withdrawal of HM Hospitales from agreements with Mugeju and Isfas in Catalonia (mutuals of Justice and Defense), as well as a general reduction in medical services. CSIF also notes the withdrawal of another hospital group (Quirón Salud) from the Isfas agreement by Adeslas.
The union emphasizes the need for the Administration to ensure the quality of healthcare services. They argue that mutualists should have the right to the same range of services as the National Health System, but the withdrawal of these hospitals, some of which are leaders in the treatment of oncological diseases, could compromise quality and relegate mutualists to second-class patients. CSIF calls on the General Council of Muface to oversee this situation.
CSIF insists that the model of administrative mutualism has been supported by all parties and should not lack proper funding for doctors and hospitals due to the stinginess of insurers. They vow to intensify their efforts until the agreements for healthcare provision for Muface are finalized on the 23rd.
CSIF demands that the Government ensure the long-term viability of administrative mutualism, which they believe has effectively functioned for decades but needs to regain lost quality in healthcare due to insufficient funding in recent agreements. They reject the use of a recent AiREF report as an excuse to dismantle the model.
