Fundación A LA PAR will celebrate a solidarity concert on May 27, 2025, at ‘La Sala del Movistar Arena’ in Madrid, featuring the Rockalapar group as the main attraction. This band, composed entirely of individuals with intellectual disabilities, will give their first major concert, almost a year after its creation, accompanied by artists such as David Summers (Hombres G), the godfather of the initiative, and Loquillo, among others.
Specifically, the lineup will include artists like Jorge Ruiz (Maldita Nerea) and Alejo Stivel (Tequila), along with Pedro Andrea, a composer, professional guitarist, and musical director of the band, who will perform with them for the first time, and Sezar Blues, known for his culinary talent but also possessing great musical talent.
Attendees at this musical and solidarity event will enjoy some of the great hits of Spanish rock and pop. The proceeds from ticket sales will be entirely dedicated to the development and growth of the Rockalapar project with the aim of expanding this artistic space without barriers.
The concert, for which tickets can be purchased through the ‘La Sala del Movistar Arena’ website, will kick off at 8:00 pm, with doors opening at 7:15 pm for all spectators.
This performance comes months after Rockalapar’s participation in the ‘Madrid Spring Festival,’ held at Platea in February, celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Despite only having six months of experience, Rockalapar received its first recognition last year, when the Almerian Federation of Associations of People with Disabilities awarded the FAAM de Oro Cultura to Fundación A LA PAR for this project. The FAAM de Oro awards have reached their XXI edition this year.
ARTISTIC SPACES WITHOUT BARRIERS
Rockalapar is an initiative of Fundación A LA PAR in collaboration with the Community of Madrid and Fundación Telefónica. This project, which started in June 2024, aimed to create a rock group composed entirely of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Over 120 people auditioned, but only 26 candidates successfully passed.
In October, the members of the band were announced, and rehearsals began, yielding positive results. Artists David Summers and Pedro Andrea have supported the Foundation in this musical adventure, while entities like Yamaha, Fundación Ferrer Dalmau, and The Core are also project partners.
Fundación A LA PAR aims to create an artistic space without barriers, and Rockalapar is a strong commitment to art as a means of development and expression, contributing to the construction of a fairer and more equitable society for all. The project is supported by professionals from the Foundation, both in musical and psychosocial aspects, to assist the group in achieving their goal of performing their first concert in the future.
