The mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, has praised this Thursday that Air Nostrum, the Iberia franchise airline for regional flights, will once again connect the airport of the Cordovan capital with Mallorca this summer, as it did last year being the first airline to operate a regular flight at the renovated airport. The operation started on Thursday and will continue until August 28.
In statements to the press, along with the Urban Planning delegate, Miguel Ángel Torrico, the mayor highlighted that «it shows that if they come for a second year, it’s because the numbers add up, and that is also wonderful news, because if ticket sales weren’t working out, they wouldn’t operate.» Therefore, he said it is «fantastic, because it reestablishes that connection and shows that the airport of Córdoba is indeed taking off.»
In this regard, he explained that he will always be very grateful to Air Nostrum, «because they were the first ones,» after «last year, when no one was operating, they were the first to come to operate in Córdoba,» so they are «more than welcome back to the city, and it opens up another important connection with the Balearic Islands, with Palma de Mallorca.»
As the mayor stated, «it not only opens up a holiday destination now in the summer, with the Balearic Islands, but also a stopover destination to fly to other destinations or receive tourists from other destinations from Palma de Mallorca.»
Regarding this, the airline has reported that for the first three weeks of operation, there will be a single frequency on Thursdays, and from July 21, a second weekly operation will be added on Mondays. Air Nostrum will put up for sale a total of 3,000 seats available on ‘www.iberia.com’ and at travel agencies.
The flights are operated with the CRJ1000 jet with a capacity of one hundred seats. Until July 17, flights depart from Son Sant Joan at 12:05 and return to Mallorca from Córdoba at 14:50. Starting from July 21, and coinciding with the summer peak, the schedules for both Mondays and Thursdays will be at 11:25 for departure from Mallorca and 13:40 for departure from the Andalusian airport. The flight time is approximately one hour and 30 minutes.
This route also allows connecting from Mallorca to the other two airports in the Balearic Islands, Ibiza and Menorca, both on the way there and on the way back, making it the perfect option to visit the Mediterranean archipelago. In terms of prices, rates start at 60 euros for non-residents when purchasing a round trip ticket. For Balearic residents, prices start at 21 euros per journey. All prices are subject to availability.
