The Competition Judge of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Monday that the match between FC Barcelona and Club Atlético Osasuna will take place on Thursday, March 27 at a time yet to be confirmed, a match corresponding to matchday 27 of LaLiga EA Sports that was suspended on March 8 due to the passing of FC Barcelona’s doctor Carles Miñarro.
«To determine as the date for the celebration of the match of the National First Division Championship between the teams FC Barcelona and Club Atlético Osasuna, officially postponed on March 8, the next day of March 27, 2025, at the time determined by the National Professional Football League,» announced the RFEF in a statement.
Although both teams agreed to play the match between matchdays 37 and 38 of LaLiga EA Sports, and both Osasuna and Barça proposed alternative dates, the Competition Judge has chosen March 27 as it is the closest date to the original one, despite neither ‘culers’ nor ‘rojillos’ had chosen it.
Competition has invoked the Eighth Provision of the Regulatory and Competition Bases of the National First Division Championship, which establishes that «suspended or postponed matches must be played on the date closest in time to the match in question», to impose March 27 as the final date for the match, although the clubs have the possibility to appeal the decision.
For this reason, the Competition Judge has set this new date for the match between Barça and Osasuna, which was supposed to take place on Saturday, March 8 at 9:00 p.m. at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, but was suspended minutes before due to the passing of FC Barcelona’s doctor Carles Miñarro.
However, the match schedule has not been revealed yet, and LaLiga will be responsible for communicating it soon. With the dispute of this match, Barça and Osasuna will recover their pending match of LaLiga EA Sports, a competition currently led by Hansi Flick’s team alongside Real Madrid with 60 points.
