The official State Gazette (BOE) has published this Friday a resolution from the State Secretariat for Social Rights, announcing the Agreement of the Territorial Council for Social Services and the System for Autonomy and Care for Dependence, which has allocated an amount of 75,000 euros for the organization of the XXIV State Volunteer Congress, scheduled to take place in Navarra in the year 2025.
As reported by the BOE, this amount will be transferred from the budget of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption, and the 2030 Agenda to the Navarra Regional Community, as the organizer of the Congress. The budget for the ‘State Volunteer Plan. State Volunteer Congress’ from the Ministry of Social Rights is 75,000 euros, hence it does not require authorization from the Council of Ministers, as the approval of the Territorial Council for Social Services and the System for Autonomy and Care for Dependence is sufficient, as stated in the resolution.
The State Volunteer Congress, which has been held for more than two decades, is an annual event that brings together key stakeholders in the field of voluntary action at the local, regional, and national levels. Since 1997, the Congress has been organized by a different autonomous community, with the support of the ministry responsible for social volunteering. Among others, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia, Zaragoza, Granada, Toledo, Seville, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife have hosted the event.
In 2024, the Ministry of Social Rights and Well-being of the Principality of Asturias expressed its willingness to host the XXIII State Volunteer Congress at the end of 2024 in that autonomous community. Similarly, Navarra and Cantabria have expressed their willingness to host the state congresses for the years 2025 and 2026 respectively, which is seen as an opportunity to provide the necessary regularity that this event deserves, as indicated in the text.
