The Tax Campaign concludes this year on June 30
The deadline to submit the 2024 Income and Asset declarations with a result to be paid by direct debit ends this Wednesday, June 25, while Friday, the 27th, is the last day to request an appointment for telephone or in-person assistance, as indicated in the Tax Agency’s calendar.
The deadline for submitting declarations will end on June 30 for both payments and refunds, although for declarations to be paid by direct debit, the limit is this Wednesday, June 25.
In total, the Tax Agency expects to collect 19.093 billion euros in the 2024 Income Campaign, a 13.3% increase compared to the previous year, while the amount to be refunded to taxpayers will be 9.6% higher, at 14.908 billion.
In total, 24,868,000 declarations are expected, a 3.1% increase, of which it is expected that 17,069,000 – more than 68% – will be eligible for a refund totaling an estimated 14,908 million euros, an increase of 9.6% over the previous year.
On Wednesday, April 2, the deadline for submitting declarations online was opened and will continue until June 30, 2025.
Between June 2 and 30, 2025, the Tax Agency will be able to prepare declarations for taxpayers in person at their offices, with appointment requests accepted from May 29 to June 27.
It is important to note that the deadline for submitting declarations with a result to be paid by direct debit is June 25.
Additionally, from May 6 to June 30, 2025, the Tax Agency will prepare the declaration for taxpayers who request it by phone – appointment requests will be available until June 27.
DECLARATIONS BY VIDEO CALL IN SMALL MUNICIPALITIES
The pilot plan implemented last year for preparing and submitting declarations via video call in small towns has also been modified in this campaign. The assistance previously limited to people over 65 years old will now be extended to all taxpayers with a tax residence in the town who meet the general criteria for personalized assistance.
Specifically, this year, the economic limits for assistance in preparing and submitting the declaration have been raised to 80,000 euros in gross income from work and 20,000 in movable capital, adapting the assistance criteria to the increase in these incomes over the years.
The special plan started on May 6, just like the national ‘We Call You’ telephone assistance plan, and will reach citizens in 90 municipalities (some with coverage for residents of 13 more municipalities, totaling 103).
For the selection of these municipalities (the list of locations will be available on the Tax Agency’s electronic headquarters), the reference was mainly towns with fewer than 3,000 inhabitants that do not have a Tax Agency, regional government, or town hall center providing assistance during the campaign.
In these municipalities, thanks to the collaboration and technical resources provided by the town halls, citizens who make an appointment will be assisted by Tax Agency personnel via video call, receiving the same personalized attention as any other taxpayer, but at the facilities made available by their town hall, thus avoiding the need to travel to the nearest regular assistance point.
WARNINGS ABOUT POSSIBLE ‘PHISHING’ AND ‘SMISHING’ CASES
The Tax Agency has warned taxpayers that during the 2024 Income Campaign, cybercriminals may try to deceive them by impersonating the agency through fraudulent emails (phishing) or SMS (smishing).
In this regard, the Tax Agency has emphasized that it does not request confidential, financial, or personal information, account numbers, or card numbers via email or SMS, nor does it attach invoices or other types of documents.
Furthermore, it has emphasized that it never refunds to credit or debit cards, nor uses Bizum, and never charges any fees for the services it provides.
If any taxpayer receives an email supposedly sent by the Tax Agency during the Income Campaign, they should not download attachments or click on links to receive refunds.
Additionally, any SMS supposedly sent by the Tax Agency with links for tax refunds or requesting confidential information should be deleted.
