The Spanish government’s legal services are «studying» the precautionary measures accepted by the Supreme Court that has given the Pedro Sánchez government ten days to guarantee access to the National Reception System for about a thousand unaccompanied migrant minors currently in the islands who have applied for asylum.
Sources from the Ministry of Youth and Childhood have informed Europa Press that «the government’s legal services are studying the precautionary measures accepted by the Supreme Court.»
In any case, the same sources recall that girls, boys, and adolescents who arrive in Spain «in a situation of abandonment fleeing from extremely serious situations» are «particularly vulnerable.»
Therefore, they consider it necessary to «ensure» that international protection requests are carried out «individually, for every minor who requests it.»
Furthermore, they emphasize that, from the Ministry of Youth and Childhood, within the scope of their competencies, they work and will continue to work under the premise of guaranteeing the protection of children and their rights, including the right to asylum.
This statement comes after the Supreme Court agreed to the precautionary measure requested by the Canary Islands government and gave the government ten days to guarantee access to the National Reception System for about a thousand unaccompanied migrant minors currently in the islands who have applied for asylum.
The Administrative Litigation Chamber of the high court has deemed it an essential measure to correct the current overcrowded situation in which these minors find themselves.
