El second largest shareholder of CD Tenerife indicates that the declaration went «well» and he fears «nothing»
The second largest shareholder of CD Tenerife, Rayco García, has declared this Friday for several hours and for the second time before the Court of Gender Violence Number 1 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife as an investigated for an alleged crime of coercion in the field of gender violence.
The court has decided not to impose any precautionary measures and maintains provisional freedom for García, as reported by the communication office of the TSJC.
García left the Courthouse around 4:00 p.m. (he entered at 9:00 a.m.) accompanied by several people and simply stated to the journalists that he is calm despite the judicial investigation.
«I fear nothing, I have won,» he said as he got into a car that came to pick him up, while also stating that the declaration went «well» and that he will «speak soon» to give his version of the events in the midst of reproaches to the group of journalists waiting for him at the exit.
His lawyer, Antonio Porro, expressed his «joy» because the precautionary measures have been dismissed –statements collected by ‘Radio Club Tenerife’ and ‘Antena 3’– and regretted that the case has taken on a «media» aspect.
He emphasized that his client is defending himself «with the truth» and with the confidence that it will be reduced to a judicial matter and that no «parallel trials» will be conducted, which seems to be what is intended by interested parties.
He criticized that «something is not being done in good faith and in accordance with the rules demanded by Spanish legislation» due to the case leaks, while insisting on «focusing» the case purely on the judicial sphere.
«Mr. García simply wants to limit himself to complying with what justice requires of him and there is no need to provide further explanations, explanations are given where they need to be, in the courts,» he said.
García, who aspires to take over the presidency of the club at the next extraordinary meeting, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon by the National Police after the complaint filed by his ex-partner, granddaughter of another shareholder and former vice president of CD Tenerife.
According to the complaint, the events date back to a period between April and May of last year when García had a romantic relationship and the alleged victim became pregnant.
From that moment on, she suffered pressure and threats from García to have an abortion, to which she initially refused at a clinic in Madrid.
In one of their arguments, García even proposed the possibility of killing the child in Saudi Arabia, as he has contacts due to his work related to the football business –he is an international agent and organizer of sports events–.
He also threatened the mother of the young woman and eventually the abortion was performed in a clinic in Tenerife against the will of the young woman and out of fear of his threats.
