MADRID, 4 Mar. (CulturaOcio) –
This year, the Oscars race has been marked by several controversies, and among them, perhaps the most notable is the one surrounding Karla Sofía Gascón, star of Emilia Pérez and nominee for Best Actress. Although she didn’t walk the red carpet, the Spanish actress attended the gala, and the host, Conan O’Brien, didn’t miss the chance to make a couple of jokes at her expense… A jest that the actress herself has recently followed up on, thanking the Academy of Hollywood for her invitation to the awards.
«Thanks to the members of the Academy for the nomination for Best Leading Actress, for the invitation to the gala,» begins the text that Gascón posted on her Instagram account along with some photos of the evening.
«I really enjoyed it, very entertaining and fun, especially its fabulous host Jimmy Kimmel, he’s fantastic, he looks more and more like the great Conan O’Brien every day,» continues the post, referencing what O’Brien himself said during his opening monologue, warning the Spanish actress that if she was going to write something about the ceremony, she should remember that his name was Jimmy Kimmel.
Just before, the host had commented that in Anora, the word ‘fuck’ was used «479 times, many more times than Karla Sofía Gascón’s publicist,» a reference to the crisis that the Emilia Pérez team had to face due to the resurgence of the actress’s old racist and offensive tweets, which led to her distancing from promotion.
«I loved hugging so many friends and colleagues on this return,» Gascón adds in her post, going on to congratulate «all the winners» but especially those from the Emilia Pérez team, namely Zoe Saldaña, who won the Best Supporting Actress award, and musicians Clément Ducol and Camille, who won the Oscar for Best Original Song for El Mal.
«Thanks Emilia Pérez for teaching me so many things,» concludes the actress’s message, not forgetting to mention either the director of the film, Jacques Audiard, or the production company Why Not Productions, or Netflix, the distributor of the film in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
