Rego denuncia «bloqueo» de CCAA del PP en traslados de menores migrantes solos

The minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego, expects the transfers of unaccompanied minor migrants to begin in August, taking into account the administrative process cadence; and has denounced a «blockage» by the autonomous communities of the Popular Party.

«We are in a position to have everything ready for the ministerial meetings before the summer so that the process can start, the forecast would be in August presumably, but also understanding the complexity and the cadence of the administrative procedures,» the minister indicated on Friday in statements to the media after the meeting of the Sectorial Conference on Childhood and Adolescence.

Likewise, she explained that in this meeting they have approved the distribution of 22 million euros to the autonomous communities and cities with overpopulation: Canarias, Baleares, Ceuta, and Melilla.

In addition, Rego criticized the «blockage» of the Popular Party communities during the sectorial meeting, where, she said, they attended with «empty hands» and putting «sticks in the wheels.»

«Once again we find the blockade of the PP autonomous communities, which have come back with a bellicose attitude, very focused on procedural matters, with little political argumentation, or, if you allow me, with the only political argumentation of promoting the ultra agenda of Vox,» Rego reproached.

FINANCED TRANSFERS BY THE STATE

On the other hand, the minister of Youth and Childhood pointed out that during the meeting, there was concern about financing, and in this regard, she clarified that «all transfers of these children will be financed by the State.»

In this sense, she pointed out that the issue of financing will be addressed at the next sectorial conference, scheduled for July.

«The issue of financing was not discussed at this sectorial conference, but it will be discussed at the next sectorial conference. The plan is to convene it in July, where we will specifically address the issue of the ordinary reception system and therefore the final tables of what each autonomous community should assume, along with a financing proposal,» she insisted.

Looking ahead to this upcoming meeting, the minister said it is time to be responsible and asked not to «anticipate problems» because they first need to see «the final number of children to be transferred» as many of them are applicants for international protection. In any case, she believes that the available resources «will be sufficient.»

In any case, regarding the regulation for the development of the royal decree for the distribution of minor migrants in situations of extraordinary migratory contingency, Rego assured that «everything is progressing» and that it will soon reach the Council of Ministers for approval.

«The news today is that we are bringing the regulation with a perspective on childhood based on rights, providing individualized treatment,» the minister explained, adding that these children are «not numbers, they are human beings.»

When asked if the regulation includes having minors accompanied by police officers during transfers, the minister clarified that they will be accompanied «by specialized personnel.»
