Desmantelan banda en Murcia que traficaba migrantes marroquíes desde Rumanía a España

The Guardia Civil, in the fight against irregular immigration networks, has arrested four people in the province of Murcia as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization and facilitating irregular immigration.

The organization recruited Moroccan immigrants who intended to enter Spain. After paying a large sum of money, they sent these individuals by plane to Romania and then transported them in vans and trucks to other countries in the European Union, including Spain.

The leader of the criminal organization acted as a link between the members of the organization based in Spain, Morocco, and Romania, setting prices and conditions for the transfers. Once the migrant accepted the price to reach Spain, the leader gave specific instructions to the rest of the organization.

The detainees took security measures to hinder police work, such as using shuttle vehicles or routes with less guarded border points.

In Romania, the investigated criminal organization had established a ‘logistics center’ specifically dedicated to hiding or concealing migrants before the start of their journeys.

It is estimated that the criminal organization had managed to carry out around 50 transfers to Spain in the last two years, transporting groups of 20 to 50 people in each trip and charging approximately 3,000 euros per person.

The operation was carried out by the Information Group of the Navarra Command, with the support of the Information Group of Murcia and the Special Central Unit 3, as well as components of USECIC Murcia for its exploitation. Europol and the European Border Agency (FRONTEX) collaborated in the operation.

This operation is part of the objectives set by the Guardia Civil in its Strategic Plan, specifically the integral fight against irregular immigration networks and the control of irregular migratory flows.
